The Washington Commanders are hiring Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their head coach, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Quinn and new Commanders general manager Adam Peters are the two men now charged with leading Washington into the future.

Quinn replaces Ron Rivera, who was fired after the season.

Quinn served as Dallas’ defensive coordinator the past three seasons. The Cowboys ranked a combined fifth in points and seventh in yards. Under Quinn, the Cowboys led the NFL with 93 forced turnovers.

Quinn also compiled a 43-42 record in five-plus seasons as the Atlanta Falcons head coach. He led the Falcons to the Super Bowl during the 2016 season, when they lost to the Patriots in overtime — after leading 28-3.
